Hey Sean. Yeah that is pretty cool. I remember it from my time in the Loyalist City a few years ago. It caught my eye one (surprisingly sunny for the fog capital of the world) day as I was checking out the architecture. But I was too close to the ground already (LOL) to make out the details. The motto under the lion seems to be the first part of "Qui stat caveat ne cadat," which translate means "Let him who standeth take heed lest he fall." It is the motto of the arms of the noted Domvile family of England. One would be interested to know the function of the building as it was first constructed so as to give a clue as to the meaning, intent and purpose of said motto and heraldic device in this corner of the Empire. It's been awhile since I have been to St. John, myself, and so I am unable to answer that myself.
