Nice place, but a bit drafty.
At some point you have to wonder whether the scaffolding is holding up the wall or the wall is holding up the scaffolding.Queen St., South End, Saint John.
This is the work of the heritage committee. They have very strict rules and a lot of power. So the owners of this building wanted to demolish, and they got the permit - for everything but the front wall:) Now they're rebuilding to include the old facade, which I think is good because if it wasn't for these guys - though I grant they can go too far - this entire historic city would be razed and rebuilt in vinyl-sided hunks of ugly.
Wow, new definition of "nit-picky," lol. But I agree with you whole-heartedly. Rarely do people build for the ages anymore. The Great Fire did enough damage as it was. Speaking of which, did u know that there was a plan to fire the Loyalist City should the enemy--particularly Germany--gain a toehold, or it begin to look as if the Allies would lose? Apparently it came very close to being used. A last ditch effort...scorched earth at close range....It made me shudder to read... <><
