Hey look!

I have a flower! Ok, so not that impressive but at least it's something. I've decided to put in a vegetable garden and just focus on cleaning up the yard for this year (i.e. get rid of the ugly gravel and industrial pavers that the previous owner thought were decorative. Sigh.) Next year I'll worry about planning my flowerbeds. For now I'm waiting to see what's coming up from the ground; and the answer is a whole lot of nothing. I choose to see this as a blank slate for next season, rather than a depressing rectangle of dirt :) I hope your yard is a bit more cheery - come see us for some veggies in a couple of months!

That's cool; first signs of spring too. They look like astars. That would be cool, Lady. :D Oooooo...!! Idea...!! How about planting some roses next year?! Very Irish. :D

Hi there,
Those flowers are known as squill and they come from a bulb. I have a few in my garden. If you would like a few perennials. You would be welcome to come for a visit with some muscle and containers in the next month. Just call ahead.

Shirley, thanks for the info and the offer of flowers. I think I'm going to wait it out this year. I'm turning one of my flower beds into an herb garden and the other beds are very small and don't get a lot of sunlight so I'm going to leave them this year and see what pops up out of the ground. I just found out last week that I have several red tulips :)
