Berrypalooza!

Early this morning Ruth and I fell in with a troupe of migrant workers on a strawberry field in the countryside (otherwise known as a u-pick:). We gathered ten boxes and spent most of the day's remainder in various sundry berry-related activities. And this evening, while discussing Mere Christianity with some friends of ours (if you haven't read it, read it), we greatly enjoyed generous helpings of fresh strawberry shortcake.
The morning's haul in sink & colander.

Ruth hulls the haul:)

Fresh whipped cream in the mixer.

Huh...I thought that that WAS a belly-picture...there where you're on the beach, Ruth. Ooops...sorry...did not mean to insult. As for the strawberries and "hulling the haul"--hahahaha, very amusing pun, Carroll!!--I have many fond memories of hulling berries with Nan over the years...really since before I could walk, every summer. Until 2005 when I was in the city and she no longer lived independently. Man, we used to get SUCH massive amounts of strawberries, would take us seemingly forever. Not that either of us minded. Then the whole familky would be there, gathered around Nan's kitchen table each with a huge bowl to go through--and it wa sthe cutest thing when my baby sister came along and started to "help" hull berries. :) Maybe you'll have your little guy, or girl, doing likewise before he/she can walk? (Or, at this rate, is even out of the womb!)
